Job Fair Strategy

Furthermore, I would like to share some experience for job fair interview.

 
Frankly, job fair itself is not important, very few people feel positive after a job fair. You can not expect the interviewer can remember or care about you in such a short time. Even if you were only talent for them. And you can not expect they can review all the resumes collected.
 
The most important thing is follow-up after the job fair. For this purpose, you have to ask for the interview's business card for further contact. Don't be shy. It is only important thing you need to do with the company you are interested in a job fair.
 
When you come back, follow-up is very important to your result. There is a latent law many Chinese students may not know, many American companies are just interested in the applicants who follow-up their interview. There are two reasons, firstly they think you know how to treat relations or teamwork orientation ( one very important criteria they use to evaluate the applicant), secondly they only look for the applicant who has strong desire and enthusiasm to their company and who care his/herself career in not just simple resume delivery .(you can care more about the company in the case that you care about more yourself first). Why they need you if you pay less attention to them?
 
Then a "Thanks letter" after job fair is very necessary, there are two purposes.
Firstly, as the resume you delivered in the job fair is universal, which is not for certain company, you can not have advantage for certain position and certain company. You have to surf the company website very carefully for their position requirement and whole company background if you decide to do more. You have to re-write your resume according to this position requirement of certain company. When they find the exact person for this position, their eyes will be much bright.
 
Secondly, you can set up very close personal relation with the person interviewed you. It is very important, everybody like to give benefits to the guy he or she knows well and can give their confidence and credit support. Through follow-up, they can further understand you - Your technical ability, your social ability and your language ability. If in right way, it can further strengthen your opportunity.
 
Thirdly, as nobody wants to look millions of resumes again. most of them will be collected only for record or research. Through the "Thanks letter" attached with newly drafted resume, they can pick you up from thousands of applicants directly. They will have very few resumes with the real name which can sound them.
 
You have to call or e-mail them nearly each week, present yourself carefully and kindly until they firmly refuse you. You have to be active, warm and with strong desire, most American companies like energetic people.
