Hi Bin,
Thanks for your message.
I have a possible temporary solution to your problem. You can get a temporary EAD card from the Chicago INS office (located just across the street corner at 10 W. Jackson Blvd.) by using a letter from our office explaining your situation.
I will write this letter today so that it is available for your pick-up this afternoon or at your earliest convenience.
You will need to bring with you to the INS office the following items:
*passport
*I-94 card
*I-20
*receipt notice that you received from INS
*letter from our office
The Chicago INS Office is open Monday-Thursday mornings for such requests. You should arrive at their front door between 7:45 and 8:00 a.m. (They open at 8:00, but a line usually starts forming a bit before that time.) If you are successful in getting a temporary card, it will be valid for 3 months.
I hope that this is helpful. It is likely that your EAD card from INS will then arrive at some point before this temporary card expires.
Best of luck!
